The winner of first place in the Arquine No. 26 award (which is part of the pavilions at Mextrópoli 2024) is (Despés de) ESPECTACULARES, a project presented by Tobias Jiménez and Cori Mattheis from Seattle, Washington (United States).
They utilized recycled objects, giving them a new purpose. They suggest using billboards that are no longer in use and are probably going to waste, to create a triangular structure in public spaces that can provide a multipurpose area for events such as meetings, conferences, digital projections, talks, and even performances. The temporary installation was featured at Mextrópoli, inviting people to question how we can create more useful spaces for the community using things that already exist—reutilizing, reducing waste, and making better use of materials.
At LAINVENCIBLE.ORG, we had the honor of participating as the technical jury and developers of the winning piece, collaborating with ATM Espectaculares, a billboard-specialized company with over 42 years of experience in the business in Mexico.
